Who likes Oatmeal? I have three fuzzie lil girls that love it! Please meet 3 of our 4 Ferrets as they enjoy a lil treat after a morning at the Vet's.
Top left is Spice. Below her is Cinnamon (Cinny) and on the right is Baby Girl. We do volunteer rescue work in the county we live in. These girls came to us just before Christmas 2005. They were in a horrid, filthy-dirty, abusive home setting. For the first 6 months we had them, we had to keep them isolated from our other ferret, Mocha. It took that long to get their coats clean and shining and their bodies healthy. Also took that long to get them used to us, to teach them that we loved them and would not hit them, starve them, ignore them.
Our Vet provides their health care since they were "rescues". We provide a home, food, toys, and endless love. The girls are 2 and a half years old, now, and Mocha is 5 years old. We were so tickled when they first got to be together... they bonded instantly! It is such a Hoot to watch them play together. Our TV room is their playroom, since we can close that room off from the rest of the house. Ferrets are sneaky and fast escape artists, so you have to watch them all the time.
Besides eating a snack of Oatmeal, they also enjoy begging for sips of my sweet tea! We have a big box that is half full of raw rice that they adore digging and playing in. Alan just bought them a pop-up tent and I just crack up watching them tumble around in it. The teeny cage behind them is their travel cage. They actually have a 4-story condo that they live in when not out playing with us. Lots of hammocks and beds and snuggle sacks in the condo along with their food dish and water bottle. Every morning, when Alan gets home from work, he brings the girls upstairs and puts them in bed with me. There are many days of a week when I am not able to go down the stairs, so I really enjoy having their company in the mornings. They love to get under the covers and slide into the pillowcases. And I always get tons of kisses from them inbetween the bouncing! They truly are our lil girls, and we love them dearly.
Did I hear someone say Oatmeal and Ferrets for breakfast?! I can't think of a better way to start my day. God Bless...
Until another time... Pearl

Awwh! I am so glad you did that. They look adorable, but I hear they can be quite a handful. They would never survive my two dogs! LO!!
They like oatmeal, that is adorable. You are a very good mommy. My Jackson loves to sleep under our covers too. Oh the things we let our little furry ones do.
Hugs,
LeAnn:)
Pearl they are so cute, I would love to see a picture of that condo. You really are a kind and loving person, to take them in. I'm glad you are getting great enjoyment out of having them all. Deb
PS I REALLY REALLY REALLY love your blog header!!! I have four cats in a really really tiny house. Your header pretty much sums up what life is like 24/7! :-D
ha ha! That is hilarious. Thank you so much -- that's a keeper!
Except that, um, there was one mistake. The maid should have been, uh, me!

Pearl,
I just love to hear happy endings for animals. Now they're served oatmeal and live in a four story condo and get to run & play. Makes my heart happy.
Oh yes, I love oatmeal (with brown sugar and blueberries!).
Happy night!

Even MORE hilarious than the first one -- at least the cats think so. They're all rolling on the floor, laughing hysterically and pointing at me between guffaws.
Huh. We'll see how hard they're laughing in the morning when it's time for BREAKFAST and those little paws can't work the CAN OPENER.
Thank you so much!
Hi Pearl :)
Those babies are absolutely precious! How sad that animals have to go through those kinds of things, but I believe that the majority of the time they will end up being the very best pets.
Give them all a kiss from me :)
hugs,
rue
Hiya sweetpea, just checking in to say HELLLOOOO and see how you are...? Hope you have a gorgeous weekend my friend.

Hi Pearl, These are cute little fellows! David would love one of these! How sweet of you to rescue them! I didn't realize that they were house pets. Shows what I know...guess I was born under a rock! LOL!
I loved the poem related to Alex! That one tugged on my heartstrings!
Hope you have had a great week! ...missed you! I signed up to do the vacation post last week, so I did come back to do it! It has been some kind of week...but I'll tell you all about that in an email!
Hugs, Rhonda ;)
Dear Pearl, Thank you for sharing about your illness with me. My heart goes out to you. I'm stunned and saddened that you are in such pain all the time. I am going to save your letter and read it regularly to remind me of the things you are going through. My mother has fybro. and her sister has celiac. I will write to you again in an email. I forgot this was the comment spot. I got carried away. Bless you Pearl. I wish I could make you pain-free and healthy. I will check in with you later. Hugs and prayers, Kathi
