From a Storm Came my Family Bible...

Awhile back, I posted a lil tease photo of a post to come... it was a cropped image of the cover of my Family Bible...

Back in August, I spent an afternoon taking photos of the Holy Bible that has been passed down through the generations on my Mom's side of the family... It's an honor to be the current owner of this beautiful, old book.

I placed a penny next to it, so you could get an idea of the size of my Bible... It's BIG... and heavy... too heavy for my weak arms and hands to carry upstairs. I first discovered this Bible at my Grandmother's home during one of our many Summer visits... A storm had suddenly come up, and I was sprawled out on the bed in the guest room with a window open so I could smell the rain... I have always loved Summer storms... Anyway, Grandma came in and laid this big, old Bible on the bed next to me and we spent several hours looking through it... Ever since that day, this Bible became one of my most favorite things "to do" at Grandma's... Often my Mom would look at it with me... In the very front of the book are two photos from her side of the family...

This cute couple standing next to a car are my Great-Great Grandparents...

And this rather serious looking couple are my Great Grandparents...

Many of the pages in the Bible that were meant to be filled in, were left blank... I cannot recall the reason for this... The artwork and type-faces throught this book are simply breathtaking... I really do wish you'd click and enlarge each photo so that you can see and enjoy the fine details and beauty of the craftsmanship from so long ago...

My Family Bible was Published in 1895...

Those are just the introduction pages of this amazing Bible... I hope you found them to be as beautiful and fascinating as I do... and, I hope you will want to come back and visit with me, again, to see the upcoming posts of the rest of my Bible... There are pictures of the animals and flowers in the Bible... and so much more... I'm truly excited to be able to share this with you!
God bless...
Until another time... Pearl

What wonderful memories, plus the bonus of actually having the bible to read and look at!

Love the detail. We have a big old bible like that, I've never thought to check the date it was published. I have marveled at the beautiful penmanship that put's my handwriting to shame!

Blessings!!
