Summer Treasures...

The thrill of the hunt never dies. Even though Summer is nearing her end, hunting season for treasures remains wide open! Thankfully, this is the only type of hunting my Husband and children do. Lucky for me, I get to tag along! Here are some of our most recent finds... and please take an extra moment to click on the photos to see them enlarged... Enjoy!

The large wire basket will end up living with my best friend. It's in perfect condition and was only $3. I suspect that animal crackers will find their way into the glass jar! We have a lil bit of a weakness in this house for crocks, too, regardless their size... I just love this teeny tiny one and the teeny price sticker of 50 cents made it even better!

One of my passions is creamers and small pitchers. Rarely are they used for their intended purpose. Somehow flowers, pens, pencils, markers, scissors and such end up filling them. In addition to my love of Roosters, I'm also a sucker for lil yellow chick-a-biddies! This pair cost a whopping 25 cents!

I was thrilled to find these two framed birds, worked in cross-stitch. The frames are not perfect, but I am not sure what to do with them... any suggestions, ladies? There are a few spots on the material under the glass that I would like to try to clean. Someone put alot of time and effort into stitching these, the work is amazing! But, for the life of me, I will never understand how anyone could let something so beautiful slip away... it is sad. I wish I could recall what I paid for this pair... I think it was 50 cents or $1 ...

Aren't those Pink Dogwood blossoms beautiful? I believe this is a Baltimore Oriole... does anyone know?

And, I haven't a clue as to what type of bird this is... so, again, I am asking for help, please!

Two sweet ceramic bunnies to add to my collection! I think they're precious!

I've never counted, but I'm guessing that I have about 75 bunnies, now! These lil cuties were only 50 cents each.

Look! The bunny with the snazzy blue coat is a Lefton creation! Lucky me!

Who could walk away from this whimsical pair?! Also, just 50 cents each!

These lil bunnies remind me of the Easter tree that I began on my oldest son's first Easter. Each year would bring new ornaments and lil treasures. It became increasingly stressful for me to display it because the cats would always find it and break something. Sadly, I've not set it up for some time, now. Perhaps this coming Easter I will ask the guys to help me get it out and set up... at least so I can get some photos. It truly is a sight to see.

Finding these hand painted "blocks" was a fun way to end a day of treasure hunting! They will be a gift to my oldest son for Halloween... I'm still searching for something to give to my "lil" guy! These BOO Ghosts were only 50 cents! Sooo... all-in-all, it has been a great Summer for thrift shop bargains! I can't wait to see what the Fall Hunting Season brings, can you?! God bless...

Until another time... Pearl

Pearl, YOu found some darling things. I have not heard of Lefton before. It must be collectable. They are so cute. I am not sure about the bird. My first thought was a Cardinal, but I am no expert. Have a safe holiday. Hugs, Kathi

Hi Pearl,
You found many great things.

I especially like the glass jar, the little chicks and the bunny in the blue jacket. You found great buys on everything, wish I had that kind of luck. I'm with you, I wonder why people let certain things go and what's the history behind it. I don't know about the bird, about the only birds I know are doves, blue jays, crows and pigeons ;)
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend full of treasured memories too!

Hi Pearl! :)

Your finds are great! I love the cross-stitch ones. I believe the one you were wondering about would be a Brown Thrasher. They have a deep redish tan color and a long tail. They like to nest in bushy areas and their eyes are quite dominant. A beautiful bird in God's Creation. :)
